The moon lit by our star - Another imperfect tea cup

We only get to see part of the moon from Earth, and during the moon's orbit around our planet, we get to experience the various lunar phases. 

This small cup was made by hand. First I pinched a small piece of clay, then, when the clay was just the right moisture, I carved a foot. It's unsigned.

Once it survived the first firing at 960C, I glazed it first with my white matte glaze, then I applied a few random brush strokes of my lava glaze.

Another two days in the kiln, reaching 1240C, and the minerals in the glaze melted and fused with the clay to create this unique beauty. 

The cup is functional and measures ca 8cm in diameter and height. Due to the nature of the craters on the outside of the cup, this cup should not be used in the dishwasher or microwave. 

All the glazes are formulated and made by me and tested for food safety in accordance with the law.
