Moon's tilted orbit - Lava glaze vase
Regular price€280,00 Sale pricePickup currently unavailable
The moon's orbit is tilted by around 5 degrees compared to Earth's orbit around our star, the Sun. This is why we don't have frequent solar and lunar eclipses. Like our moon, this vase, aptly named "Moon's titled orbit", is slightly tilted, though perfectly stable.
"Moon's tilted orbit" is unique and was built by hand, without a wheel, over the course of a few days. Once it survived the first firing at 960C, I glazed with my lava glaze.
Another two days in the kiln, reaching 1240C, and the minerals in the glaze melted and fused with the clay to create this unique beauty.
The vase is functional and measures circa 21cm in height and 11cm in diameter.
All the glazes are formulated and made by me.
