Making of Telesto / March 22nd and March 24th 2025
Telesto is a porcelain vase made in the span of 2 days. On the photos we have from Nasa, Telesto looks quite smooth compared to the other moons around Saturn.
Like every porcelain vase, this one started with a pinch pot and then was completed with coils. On the second day, I trimmed it and made it smooth. I am trying to achieve a pleasant shape that still bear signs of there having been a human behind it. I keep some of the finger marks on purpose.
Purpose is a word that has been occupying my mind a lot lately. What is my purpose? Telesto's purpose is to rotate around Saturn, every 45.3 hours. I can't help but look around me and feel a sense of despair and hopelessness. I am not sure how to use this feeling for art, even though I think that my purpose is to do that. Maybe making Telesto (and the other moons), is a way to channel the despair into something productive. There is value in repetition.
