Titan Erbium - Porcelain dangle earring with gold filled wire

Titan is inspired by images of Titan (one of Saturn's moon), orbiting the planet. This pair is glazed with my erbium glaze. Erbium is a rare earth metal. Its oxide is rarely used in ceramics because it is very expensive. However, it produces the most stunning pink: it's actually the only oxide which alone can produce pink. 

Erbium is among the heavy elements that arrived to Earth after escaping the collision between two neutron stars. We are all  made of stars and your earrings too. 

The dangle earrings are made entirely by hand: I formed the disc by hand with porcelain. The disc has been fired so that it is glazed on both sides. The wire on which the disc is suspended is made of hand cut and hand-formed 14k gold filled wire metal. 

The measure ca 4 cm in height. The disc measures around 2,5cm in diameter.

There are a couple of pairs available so the one you receive may be slightly different from the one pictured. 

Porcelain is a very strong material but you should treat your pieces with care and make sure not to drop them or have them hit a hard surface. I also recommend not to shower with your jewellery.
